Zimmerman's opponent upholds and defends United Nations Flag -- a Fleece mailer attacks Zimmerman for burning the UN flag.  Now we know: he's "proud of his military service" under the UN Blue.

Bruce Wood, Pflugerville City Councilman, endorses Zimmerman:  "Don is the only candidate that has a demonstrated record of commitment to conservative social and fiscal values."  See brucewood.org

Zimmerman endorsed by Tim Lambert and Texas Home School Coalition PAC.

We got our very good friend and supporter Jerry Patterson (photo here with Travis transportation guru Jim Skaggs and Don) to take a break from deer hunting to join our last 2005 fundraiser at the Old San Francisco Steakhouse: who knew they provided guns of their own...

State Rep. Warren Chisum supports our campaign; HD-50 votes for Prop 2 (52%) while Travis County doesn't

This sign was vandalized at Hallmark Baptist Church (Pct. 336) on election day; the person(s) who did this needs professional conseling, not 'gay rights'

This UT Daily Texan article covered our Oct 28th rally for Prop 2

This outstanding essay explains how government policy has been undermining traditional marriage; we expect Proposition 2 to reverse that trend in Texas.

10-11-05
Don enjoyed debating for Prop 2 (marriage amendment) against Anne Wynne at the Texas Aggie Democrats sponsored event, at the MSC on the A&M campus; the campaign offers Don for debates, FOR Prop 2 marriage, anywhere, anytime, provided the audience is 50 or more persons.

These are fresh illegal alien footprints through the pecan orchard of an HD-50 constituent.  I photographed this just before joining the Texas Minutemen on October 8th (2005) at Fabens, TX (near El Paso).  The Minutemen I patrolled with are patriots - not 'vigilantes'
10-1-05
"Secure Texas Borders" rally was a success!  We had about 100 people, with about 15 counter-protesters from the open borders advocates.  Fox 7 TV gave the most interesting coverage - 'fair and balanced', we thought.

Attended event at Capital honoring Fran Colby, who founded Travis Republican Women in 1968 (photo, l-r, Don, Judge Bob Pemberton, Fran, Judge David Puryear, HD-47 candidate Alex Castano). At that time, Fran stood virtually alone in Travis County for Republican values.  Fran -- I know how you must have felt.  :)

A campaign supporter and "Save Our Taxpayer" volunteer writes: "The Houston Chronicle today shows that two school districts defeated bond proposals on Saturday. One in Waller county and Spring ISD. The most lopsided was in Spring ISD with Props 1 and 2 failing 73 to 27 percent, and Prop 3 (the "laptop prop") failed by an 80 to 20 percent margin."  Looks like our message that public schools have misplaced spending priorities is shared outside central Texas.

We enjoyed a successful campaign launch today with some significant media coverage:  KTBC (Fox 7 TV), and 590 KLBJ-AM radio, and News 8 Austin (cable TV).  Analyst Harvey Kronberg said, "There's a lot of anger and a solid constituency out there that wants to fire the incumbents".  We agree.

We have set a Press Conference announcing 'Taxpayers for Don Zimmerman' campaign, Aug 22, 11:00 AM, Travis County Commissioners Court, 314 W. 11th; everyone is invited!
8-16-05
Don is the invited speaker for the ASLAN meeting (led by Dina Meyer), Aug. 19th
7-28-05
Press Conference delayed - thanks to the 2nd "special" session, we have pushed back our August 1st Press Release officially announcing the campaign and will wait until the session(s) end before announcing.  A web page of early campaign supporters is coming soon...

Rumor has it that Texas' best campaign consultant, Royal Masset, will be joining 'Taxpayers for Don Zimmerman' effective August 1st, 2005.  While HD-47 (south/west Travis county district vacated by Terry Keel) has at least 6 declared Republican candidates, HD-50 still has only one.

Check out this video link to KEYE' story on the RR Bond Election; we said the District was wasting taxpayers' money, and the voters agreed - big time.  As Peggy Venable from AFP keeps saying, we need more education for tax dollars, not more tax dollars for education.

After reflecting on a great turnout, the enthusiastic crowd, and the excellent endorsements from several of our key political leaders, I was overwhelmed and humbled.  In fact, I actually just "ditched my speech" because others had already delivered the message. I was reminded of the Proverb (27:2) - "Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; someone else, and not your own lips."
7-09-05
What a fantastic start at our first event this year. Approximately 130 people came to hear Dr. Ron Paul, Commissioner Gerald Daugherty, Peggy Venable (AFP), and Mark Loeffler (representing Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson), and, of course, Don!  The fundraiser vastly exceeded expectations!
